So the title of this post is a lie, we actually went to mass on Saturday, so technically it should say ‘Our Second Saturday of Advent’, but that does not flow very nicely with my theme of Advent Sundays.
This post will be short and sweet and to the point. I feel like I’ve been 8 months pregnant for months now and my energy is waning today, it could be because I took up a new hobby over the weekend and had four photo shoots. My mother and sister are wonderful photographers and I tried my hand at it this past weekend.
I had a photo sessions on Saturday morning taking pictures of my most wonderful friends and their families. We also attended a deacon ordination mass! Little Sue was an angel and played quietly for the entire two hour mass. I was impressed beyond belief!
The ordination mass was followed by one more photo session and then a quick shower at home and nap.
Saturday evening we all huddled to confession and mass. I love the sin washed off of my soul and that sparkling clean feeling after confession (here are 10 reasons you need to go!), to then be completely filled with the Eucharist at mass. I was daring and sat in the FRONT ROW at mass! John was still inline for confession so Sue and I sat alone, all the way in the front of church, until the homily!
My constant prayer of ‘please, please, please God let Sue do well through this mass’ was answered again. I know when our family becomes four in February we will have to move to the back of the church again, so I am soaking up sitting front and center during the Advent season.
John joined us and Sue colored peacefully during the Consecration. I bought her these color wonder markers that only work on the paper they come with, so I did not have to worry about her drawing on the pews. It was lovely! She could enjoy her art and I could focus on Christ.
We left mass filled with Jesus and spent a quiet evening at home resting from a long day.
Sunday I had two more photo sessions of beautiful friends and then relaxed the rest of the day. John and I took a nap on the lawn while Sue slept in her crib, it was such a perfect fall day, for the middle of December!
Not knowing what to do for dinner, we used our last gift card and went to PF Changs where Sue was a pleasant dinner guest and gobbled up the honey chicken.
It was a busy but Christ focused weekend. How is your Advent going, do you have any Advent traditions you share with your family?
