I stumbled across a few mommy sites that boldly stated they made money from blogging! What? And not just coffee money, real numbers, that can pay the mortgage! That just can’t be possible! So I investigated further because I needed to find out how this can be done. I interviewed Paula Rollo, a mommy blogger who has made thousands per month from blogging. I needed to get in touch with her; and she was super sweet to answer my questions below! Thank you Paula!!
I’m a 20-something mom living in hot and humid Texas! I have two kids (5 and 3) and I work a lot while they are in bed! I love helping other women reach their dreams and leverage their passion into a career path! Blogging has totally changed my life and I love having the chance to teach others how they can do the same with their passions.
What is www.BeautyThroughImperfection.com and www.BeckyAndPaula.com and why did you create these websites?

Becky and Paula is a site my friend Becky and I run together. We teach people to blog and help you from starting a blog all the way to making a full time living blogging! We love to help people change their lives through blogging and it’s a fun site where we do just that!
How long have you been a blogging?
I’ve been blogging for 10 years, and professionally for three.
How much money did you invest initially to start your blog?
Initially it was probably a $150 investment. I bought a design for $50, a domain, and a year of hosting. I didn’t have the money for it myself, but I asked for a rebrand and transfer from blogger to wordpress for Christmas and it was all a gift to get me started on my journey from hobby blogger to business blogger.
How long did it take you to start making a profit?
When I made the switch it took about 6 months. I decided to wait to monetize until I had a decent following on my new site. You don’t have to wait that long, but I wanted to focus on getting a decent (around 500 a day) following before I put a lot of effort into monetization. This is a post about how I grew with the goal to monetize http://beckyandpaula.com/double-your-page-views/
How do you make a profit with a blog?
Sponsored posts, ads, sponsored social, my ebooks and affiliate sales.
Here’s a post on how to start: http://beckyandpaula.com/start-monetizing/
Over $7,000 – this is income just from my personal blog Beautythroughimperfection.
How time consuming is the job of a blogger?
However time consuming you want it to be! You get out of it what you put in. I work around 35 hours a week. There was about a year when I was first starting business blogging it was over 40 a week.
Absolutely!!! I’m a stay at home mom, and I built my blog as one (before my kids were even in school). I do a lot during naptime and after bedtime. http://beckyandpaula.com/balance-blogging/
What are the benefits of being a blogger compared to other stay at home mommy businesses?
Each have their own benefits. I love blogging, writing, social media and being my own boss. Working from home can be harder than an office job at times because you have to be self driven. This means you should choose a path that you enjoy. Sure, there are days that I don’t LOVE blogging, but I push through because I know most days I do, I’m good at it, and I want to continue my career as a blogger.
