We have come to the last day of the ‘Week in my Life’, Sunday November 22, 2015. As I went into this fun venture with Kathryn Whitaker, I had no idea that it would create more than just a few posts on my blog. Recapping my week in detail has been an eye opener to me and has blessed me in numerous way.
What did I learn these past 7 days?
- I have the sweetest little 17 month old toddler.
- I don’t need any more material possessions.
- Sue may be skipping naps, but she can play by herself very well, which is something to be grateful for!
- I need to continue to take pictures of the small moments in my life.
- Knowing that I would share my day later on my blog made me more conscious of my actions.
- I am truly blessed with the most amazing, loving and patient best friend as my hubby.
Okay, here is Sunday.
We woke up lazily and enjoyed sleeping in. We took a morning walk outside in the brisk air and were thankful that it is finally cooling down a bit here in Florida. It’s been in the high 70’s up until now! I love the summer and the heat, but a little cool breeze or chilly nights is a nice welcome to my third trimester.
We had breakfast and Sue showed off her dance moves! Adorable!
Taking a rare trip to Best Buy to look at a few gadgets made us realize we already have the things we need. Buying one more will just be a waste of money we can invest for our goal of having John retire early to spend more time with us.
I don’t need or want any more things in my house to distract me from what is most important, my family. Why buy pretty trinkets to put on my tables if it will only cause me to worry that every time Sue gets close to the table it may fall off and break. Why buy more clothes when my closet is already full? With every dollar that we save we get closer to our goal of having John retire early and work part time from home so he can be here as the little ones grow up. My dream is that in 10 years from now John would be able to work a few hours from home and be here for breakfast, lunch and going to the park midday! How fun would it be if Sue is 11 years old, her little sister is 9 years old, and hopefully there will be 2-3 more little ones running around and John is home with us? I can homeschool and he can work from home, and we would have an awesome, busy, fun home! I’ll check back on this post 10 years from now and see how close we came to our goal! Here are the ways we live frugally, if you were curious!
After Best Buy John went to his parent’s house to help setup the big white tent for Thanksgiving Day. I stayed home with Sue hoping she would take a nap, but she did not. She played with her peg saints while I tried to rest on the bed.
At 3:00 pm we went to our Marriage Enrichment group and had a wonderful lesson and dinner with friends. We came home for an hour and Sue was half asleep as she took her bath. She was finally tired and ready for bed!
My friend picked me up and we went to our joint baby shower. She is due February 17th, I’m due the 7th! How exciting and blessed we are to be on this journey together. And it was hosted for us by our other pregnant friend, who is due December 26th. It’s like we timed we did this on purpose!
It was a beautiful baby shower and such a joy to share it with such a special friend! Many of our Families Following Christ mommy friends came to celebrate with us and shower us with gifts. Thank you!! I am truly blessed and thankful to have each of these ladies in my life. What a huge gift motherhood has brought along with it!
We returned home with a car full of gifts and happy hearts.
John and I stayed up until late working on a few things online and had a great time chatting about our future dreams and aspirations. It’s exciting to live intentionally and track our progress towards our spiritual, financial and family goals. This may be the most overused sentence I’ve typed throughout my ‘week in the life’ series, or maybe it’s just because Thanksgiving is coming up, but I am very thankful for all the blessings God has showered on us.
I hope you have enjoyed reading about my week and getting to know me a little better. Let me know what you are thankful for in the comments below!
