Today is my sister’s 34th birthday. Happy Birthday sis! I finally reached her around 3:00 pm to wish her a happy birthday. It’s only now that we are both mommies that we have grown closer. Because we are so far apart in age, I always felt a bit distant from her. I’m happy we’re finally in the same stage in life!
So my day was extremely low key. It was rainy and muggy outside, so while the rain let up a bit, Sue and I went for our morning stroll around the neighborhood. I had a little burst of energy and even did some pilates when we got home! She found it very entertaining and climb all over me while I tried to do the moves.
She played in her ‘store’. A hand made toddler store made by her loving oupa! And she played in her ‘off limits’ tupperware cabinet in the kitchen. Once a week I let her unpack all her sippy cups, plastic bowls and colorful plates. Because it’s not something she plays with daily, she loves it when I do open the cabinet door and she easily plays for an hour by herself.
After lunch I tried to put her down for a nap. But oh no, she was interested in a photo session instead. Golly she’s beautiful! We discovered the flash and took a few glamour shots! No nap though.
Sweet moment of the day: As I was busy in the kitchen Sue played in her store. She was busy putting small cups into larger cups and creating an elaborate (in her mind) puzzle. She also put her bead necklace in a sippy cup and proudly found a lid for it. She then walked over to the kitchen, hands full of her creations, and wanted to show off the awesome things she created. I could see her proud little eyes wanting to impress me. But as she walked closer she tripped a bit and everything fell on the floor. The look of devastation was all over her face. My mommy heart melted and I quickly picked her up and let her know I’m very proud of her. Her little personality is shinning through so clearly now. What a joy she is!
We enjoyed the rest of the day relaxing and she finally decided to take a nap at 3:00 pm. Poor little thing was confused when she woke up at 5:00 pm and it was already dark. It’s okay Sue, I feel the same when I miss the sunset!
Daddy came home with some amazing news. He got a raise! So we promptly went out to celebrate at Vino’s Pizza. Our little corner Italian restaurant. Fun fact, they also catered for our wedding! And I was just thinking I would love to visit Rome… little did I know we’ll be ‘in Rome’ the next night. Hopefully one day Johnny and I will travel the world. When our children are a bit more grown and I’m not anchored with being pregnant and not being able to enjoy the wines of the world.
We returned home to read again while Sue played and clearly demonstrated she was ready for bed. I love sitting on the floor, drinking a cup of tea, watching Sue play and listening to my hubby read. Such a nice way to slow down and enjoy the moment.
Again, this Week in the Life series is clearly showing me how truly blessed I am. I feel that with each little baby blessing God grants us we have the opportunity to say Thank You to Him.
“Thank you God for blessing me with a wonderful husband, supportive family and all the material possessions I’ll ever need. How can I say Thank You? Raise a little person to love you? Yes sir!”
Also, just a quick thank you to Kathryn Whitaker for prompting other mommy bloggers to write about their week. ((Virtual Hug))
